Our Philosophy

Every subject belongs to one story.

Most curricula fragment the world into unrelated subjects. We built Rosebridge around one coherent story instead. Six principles guide how we teach.

Children Are Persons

Each child is made in the image of God and worthy of genuine intellectual respect.

Ideas Shape Souls

Living ideas, stories, primary sources, and real books over fragmented facts and worksheets.

Mastery Over Pacing

Skills are built until they are understood and usable, not rushed to meet age-based benchmarks.

Integrated Knowledge

History, theology, literature, science, and philosophy are connected parts of one story.

Wonder Precedes Analysis

Especially in the early years, curiosity and delight come before critique and argument.

Faith Seeks Understanding

Questions are welcomed. Doubt is explored honestly.

A child who can pass a test without learning to think, love, or serve has missed the point of school entirely.

About Rosebridge

Built by a homeschooling father

Rosebridge Academy is the work of Matt McCaul, a homeschooling father, English teacher, and curriculum developer. He teaches English to corporate and independent students and designs educational games for children and adults.

Matt earned a Bachelor of Theology in Pastoral Leadership from Portland Bible College in 2011. Years of teaching, church leadership, and cross-cultural ministry showed him that people grow fastest when they start where they actually are. Rosebridge is built on that idea. Every student takes a placement assessment, starts at his or her own level in each subject, and moves up by mastery.

He builds every part of Rosebridge, from the magazines to the placement assessment and the parent dashboard, for families like his own: parents who want a mastery-based Christian education their children can work through with growing independence.

FAQ

Questions parents ask

What families usually want to know before they start.

What ages or grades is Rosebridge for?

Rosebridge uses levels, not ages or grades. Every student starts at the level the placement assessment recommends for each subject and advances until that subject's ladder is finished.

What if my child is ahead in one subject and behind in another?

That is what the placement assessment is for. It gives a separate placement level for each subject.

Is it on screen or on paper?

Both. Every issue can be filled in online and saved automatically, or printed from the browser to work on paper.

What does mastery-based Christian education mean?

A student moves up a level only after he or she has mastered the one before it, shown on the mastery check at the end of each magazine. Each student takes as long as he or she needs at every level. Every subject is taught as part of one story, in the light of Christ.

Which subjects exist today?

Level 1 is built for all eighteen magazines, and Level 2 for nine of them. More levels are in development.

What does it cost?

Free during the beta. Families get full access to every level that is available at no cost.

How much parent time does it take each day?

About 20 to 30 minutes a day. Students work through the magazines on their own, and your time goes to reviewing saved answers and mastery results in the parent dashboard.

What happens to my child's work if we stop?

You can export your family's work from the parent dashboard at any time, so you keep a copy of everything your student has done.
